This Privacy Policy describes how ModVault ("we", "us", "the Service") collects, uses, and handles information when you use our platform at modvault.snugglesmp.com. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: username, email address, display name, bio, and avatar image when you register and set up your profile.
  • Uploaded content: mod files, thumbnails, version changelogs, descriptions, and tags you upload to the platform.
  • Comments: text you submit in mod comment sections, which may include your username if you are logged in, or a display name if you comment as a guest.

Information collected automatically

  • Download logs: when a mod is downloaded, we record a hashed (SHA-256) version of the downloader's IP address, a timestamp, and the browser user agent. We hash IP addresses so they cannot be reversed to identify individuals.
  • Ratings: mod ratings are associated with a hashed IP address to prevent duplicate votes. We do not store raw IP addresses for ratings.
  • Session data: we use server-side sessions to keep you logged in. Session data is stored securely and expires after 7 days of inactivity.
  • Server logs: our web server may log standard request information including IP addresses, request paths, and timestamps for security and operational purposes. These logs are retained for a limited period.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate and provide the ModVault platform — hosting mods, serving downloads, managing accounts.
  • To send you notifications about your uploads (scan results, approval status, comments).
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and malicious content uploads.
  • To display download statistics and ratings to mod creators and the public.
  • To maintain the security and integrity of the platform.

3. Information We Share

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Publicly visible information: your username, display name, avatar, bio, and uploaded mods are visible to all visitors of the platform by design.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
  • Safety: we may share information when we believe it is necessary to prevent harm or investigate suspected violations of these Terms.

We do not use third-party advertising networks. ModVault does not display advertisements.

4. Cookies and Sessions

ModVault uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie contains only a session identifier — no personal data is stored in the cookie itself. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party cookies.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account exists. If your account is deleted, associated data is removed subject to any legal obligations.
  • Download logs are retained indefinitely in aggregate form for statistics purposes. Hashed IP data may be purged periodically.
  • Quarantined files (flagged by virus scan) are retained for admin review and deleted once the review is complete.

6. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including password hashing, session security, and virus scanning of all uploaded files. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

ModVault is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting a ModVault administrator. You may also update your display name, bio, and avatar at any time from your profile settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
